Me: Hello! My name is Sylvia, and I am the creator of all these "HookCandy" patterns. I began crocheting when I was a teenager, after waking up from a dream about a red/black striped knitted sweater, and wanting to make one just like it. I learned both to knit and crochet, but as you can see I much preferred to use a hook over needles. The first pattern I put together was the "variegated diamonds hat" - I was making lots of those for my nieces who I was babysitting at the time. I got started designing booties while I was pregnant. Since my baby was born I haven't had as much time to design as I'd like; raising a child takes a lot of time and energy. Currently I am living in southern Arizona, about 1.5 hours north of Tucson, in a small "eco village" called WindSpirit.
The Patterns: The patterns are written to be precise as well as easy to follow. Many of them contain pictures or diagrams to help with certain steps. Most are 2 pages or less so that they can be printed on one single piece of paper. The patterns are tested over and over before being published, though occasionally mistakes do still get overlooked - if you happen to spot any, please don't hesitate to tell me so that they can be corrected asap.
